I can’t believe that it’s actually one year to the day that I married the love of my life! And although due to the pandemic our wedding didn’t take place the way it was planned, our civil wedding on 08.08.2020 could not have been anymore beautiful 🙂

one year married
I think our first anniversary is the perfect occasion for a little wedding recap! Although I can hardly believe that another year is already over… actually our wedding should have taken place in quite a different way: we wanted to celebrate our civil wedding at the registry office in Reichenau an der Rax (about 2.5 hours away from our hometown) before having a wedding ceremony and party with our family and friends at Schloss Wartholz. However, due to the uncertain situation during lockdown in spring 2020 we heavy-heartedly postponed the wedding for another year. I told you everything about it in my blogpost WEDDING UPDATE: THE CORONA EDITION.
But as Petzi and I had already been engaged for three years — we’ve waited all this time for the 08.08.2020 to be our wedding date — we decided to still go through with the civil wedding. because when you wait three years for that perfect wedding date, you won’t give up so easily, right? so on 08.08.2020 we went to Reichenau an der Rax and tied the knots — just attended by our marriage witnesses and our photographer. and what shall I say? despite all the obstacles our wedding day was just magical.
OUR CIVIL WEDDING
I got up pretty early to get myself ready before heading to @coiffeurvogl to get my wedding hair done. at 08.00 am our best friends, @coffeejunkyjules and her husband, picked us up and together we started our 2.5 hour car ride to Reichenau an der Rax. it was a perfect summer day, hot and sunny, and we were in a cheerful mood. as soon as we reached our destination we met up with @tessaviktoriakutsamfoto.
I cannot even properly reproduce our wedding day nor tell you in detail what happened after our getting ready because I felt like in a rush of happiness. All I remember is the warm, excited feeling I had and that I couldn’t wait to finally say „yes“ to the love of my life. after the civil wedding we went to Schloss Wartholz (our wedding location), set there in the beautiful garden, ate, drank, laughed and sometime in between we took our wedding photos. it was such a relaxed, intimate and personal atmosphere. there was no stress at all and we could enjoy our wedding day to the fullest!
outlook
in the end, I’m really happy that everything came about the way it did, because I think our whole wedding was much more relaxed than it would have been if we had our civil wedding, wedding ceremony and party on the same day…
and the best thing: I can be a bride twice and @juliasophiebridal got to design me two amazing bridal outfits (I told you more about my wedding dress fitting in my blogpost JULIA SOPHIE BRIDAL: MY WEDDING DRESS FITTING)! so next weekend we‘re going to celebrate our wedding ceremony with family and friends and let me tell you: I can’t wait! anticipation is half the pleasure!
